Without protective measures in place, powerful equipment can destroy itself in mere minutes. The use of industrial lubricants can prevent this damage. However, identifying the right lubricant solution for specific needs not only reduces premature ware but can drastically increase the longevity of industrial equipment. A.W. Chesterton Company designs specialized products to enhance operational efficiency, including industrial lubricants. In this blog, we will highlight six industrial lubricant products from Chesterton that you might not be familiar with.
Finding Critical Safety Information for an Industrial Lubricant
Before using any industrial lubricant on your equipment, it is essential to carefully review the safety data sheets and ensure that physical copies are available on-site for staff to consult. These sheets contain important information about potential hazards and provide guidance on necessary precautions and first aid measures.
274 Industrial Degreaser
Chesterton’s 274 Industrial Degreaser effectively dissolves leftover petroleum oils, grease, tar, and other inorganic fluid buildup. It is safe for all metals, as well as most plastics and paints. The 274 is suitable for both industrial and marine environments.
390 Cutting Oil
Cutting Oil is essential for protecting both machining tools and the metals they process. It adheres to drills, taps, and bores, reducing unnecessary friction and extending tool life. Chesterton’s formula prevents metal-to-metal micro-welding, reduces galling, and minimizes built-up edges while also protecting against rust. Unlike the previous 388 Tapping Fluid, the 390 Cutting Oil comes in an aerosol format, allowing it to easily cling to vertical and overhead surfaces.
650 Advanced Machine Lubricant
The 650 Advanced Machine Lubricant (AML) is a high-performing lubricant designed to creep into the interior workings of chains, cables, pneumatics, and other sliding mechanisms. This lubricant utilizes a unique blend of plant-based natural and synthetic esters, making it NSF H1 certified while still meeting the temperature and pressure capacities of standard industrial-grade lubricants.
652 Pneumatic Lubricant & Conditioner
While the 650 AML and the 652 are very similar, the Pneumatic Lubricant & Conditioner specifically works with air tools, CNC machinery, robotics, and other pneumatic equipment. Spraying it allows it to creep into the internal workings of these tools to remove sludge buildup, reduce wear, and even eliminate noise associated with rough-running equipment. 652 maintains a low-viscosity oil formula which reduces friction in delicate parts such as solenoids, pistons, and valves.
723 Spraysolvo
The 723 Sprasolvo is a penetrating oil designed to easily remove the rust, grease, dirt, and even tar that sticks in the threads of nuts, bolts, and other fittings preventing disassembly. Both the standard 723 and the 723FG use a pin-point spray mechanism to help deliver the oil as quickly and accurately as possible to speed up disassembly. It is safe for use on plastic and painted surfaces in addition to metals.
785 Parting Lubricant
While the 723 Sprasolvo works as a one-time solution for stubborn nuts and bolts, the 785 Parting Lubricant acts as a preventative measure before threading pieces together. 785 uses a ceramic base, protecting threading from corrosion without the use of heavy metals. It comes in a standard industrial formula and an NSF H1 registered variant for food-grade applications. Both versions have an operating temperature range of -30°F – 2,200°F.
